The Murramarang Community Garden

The Murramarang Community Garden located within the grounds of ANU Kioloa Coastal Campus, has grown from strength to strength since its inception in January 2011. We now have seventy-seven members, with sixty-one locals tending a plot of their own, growing and sharing fresh, healthy produce. Our new communal areas are planted out with a hazelnut grove, citrus orchard, raspberry canes, asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, plus seasonal crops including garlic, potatoes, root vegetables, tomatoes, beetroot and herbs.

The community garden serves as a place for locals to grow healthy food together in a beautiful outdoor environment. We have installed a self-composting toilet and our future plans include the installation of an off-grid solar powered system so that we can run an automatic irrigation system and lighting.
