New delegate for the Kioloa Coastal Campus
Warwick Williams, delegate for the Kioloa Coastal Campus, retired in 2009. Mick Serena, the new Director of Facilities and Services, has been appointed as the new Delegate for the field station.
Kioloa Coastal Campus community outreach program
Change, impact & environment (Jan 5 – 8, 2010)
This annual community outreach program was well attended by many enthusiastic visitors in January 2010. Community outreach programs are open to everybody, including children, and the next program will be held in January 2011. Each year the program will have a different theme - come along next year
and find out what it’s about ! We’ll keep you posted…
Internet access improved for the Kioloa Coastal Campus
The installation of the new microwave tower at the Kioloa Coastal Campus has improved internet provision across the Campus.
New development - Multi-purpose building for Kioloa Coastal Campus
Final planning is underway to build a new 150 seat facility at the Kioloa Coastal Campus. The new straw-bale building was designed by Paul Downton, an Adelaide based architect, who won the ANU design competition to build this facility with his ‘green’ building, using straw-bale walls, natural
ventilation, and environmentally friendly materials. The purpose-built facility has been designed to provide conference, workshop, meeting, performance and exhibition space for groups staying at the field-station. A date for building commencement is not yet definite.
In December 2009 the inaugural Visiting Research Fellow for the field station, Dr Judith Caton was re-appointed for a second 2 year term.
Christmas/New Year closure
From December 2009, the Kioloa Coastal Campus will close annually for the usual ANU Christmas/New Year close-down, in line with ANU policy. This closure period usually extends from 24 December to 4 January of the following year. Closure will also apply to other normal university holiday periods.
