The 348-hectare property which makes up the Kioloa Coastal Campus was formally handed over to The Australian National University on 1 March 1975. A short agreement (The Deed of Gift) between Miss Joy London and the University set out the conditions of the gift, stressing that the property "was to be used primarily for teaching and research in the field sciences". In accepting the gift and naming the property in honour of Miss London and her mother, Edith London, the University agreed to preserve the land in its entirety in its natural and present state as far as is possible "consistent with the purposes for which it was given". >> Download a detailed PDF regarding the Edith & Joy London Foundation (116kb) |
