Staying @ Kioloa

Kioloa can provide accommodation for 90 people. Bunkhouse style sleeping accommodation is provided in Packard's, Kumasi, Peter's and Groper Cottages. The two cottages each have three bedrooms accommodating up to eight people. The Schoolhouse has three rooms, each with twin beds, while Kumasi has four rooms with two double bunks and a single bed in each. Packards can accommodate 20 people in four rooms. These buildings each have showers and toilets. A further 28 beds are available in five self-contained cottages: Walsh's, Collins', Barwick's, Nix's and Frankels' are normally reserved for use by individuals or small groups. The bunks have mattresses and pillows.

What to Bring

Users need to take their own pillow cases, sheets and blankets or sleeping bags. For health reasons, users need to provide their own pillow cases and a bottom sheet whether using a sleeping bag or not. Some form of mosquito protection is essential. Raid, or a night indoor repellent unit, are most effective.

Meals & Amenities

Two amenities blocks are available with full kitchen and food storage facilities, dining room and toilets. Furniture, kitchen utensils, tea towels, crockery and cutlery are provided. Users need to bring their own food supplies and garbage bags, and should arrange all other aspects of catering. The Campus Manager can advise on the availability of local contract catering services.

Users are responsible for cleaning and tidying the facilities that they have used and removal of garbage to the local 'transfer' station - there is a fee of $12.00 per car. Alternatively, garbage will be removed by staff and a fee will be added to your invoice at the following rates: under 20 persons in the group - $12.00, over 20 persons in the group $20.00

Laboratory & Workrooms

The laboratory has bench and sink facilities with electricity outlets. The rooms include a main laboratory/lecture room, a smaller laboratory, work rooms, a dark room, tea-room and toilet. The Laboratory can be used as a lecture venue and can seat up to 80 people.

Some reference books are available in the lab and access to them can be arranged by the Campus Manager. Please ensure that items are returned in good condition before departure.
